Hello there, and welcome to "The Black Forest Jazz" website. This site has been named, as a tribute to the late Horst Jankowski's famous record " A Walk in the Black Forest". Horst is, and will always be one of my very favourite pianists, and I run another website for him at www.horstjankowski.co.uk - I am extremely proud to have this opportunity to run a website which will give me the opportunity to utilise my considerable knowledge about jazz, having been a professional bass player on the British jazz scene for a number of years, where I played with many of the country's top jazz musicians at one time or another, as well as being the regular bass player with Bob Wallis + his Storyville Jazzmen.
Many jazz websites deal solely with the great American jazz musicians of yester-year, Duke Ellington, Miles Davies, Ella Fitzgerald etc, and justifiably so, however there are also many very talented musicians around today aswell, and it is those musicians that I will be concentrating on within this website.
I will give every spare moment, every ounce of energy, and indeed every spare penny that I have, to make this an interesting and informative website. it will become my life's work, to pass on any knowledge, information or news that I have to my first love, the world of jazz music, acutely aware as I am, that the clock is ticking all the time, and indeed in 100 years from now, or less, we will all be in another place!
